Lasse Thoresen - Sea of names

English:
Lasse Thoresens - Sea of Names
Lasse Thoresens Sea of Names was comissioned by Trond and Maiken Schau in 2012. The title refers to a non-materialistic state of existence, a place where all things dwell, before or after, having earthly shape. One of the most important musical features of the piece, derives from Fartein Valens violinconcerto (1940) ” The Hero of my youth” as Thoresen puts it.
Carolyn Chen - Britney Whitney Clark Kent Is Not a Disguise
A dance dance concerto for flute and orchestra on tape, exploring the history and identity of flute and flutist. Medieval poet Eustache Deschamps suggested that the flute led a double life -- as a soft, indoor instrument, as well as a loud, military one, played with bagpipes and trumpets.

"Clark Kent is not a disguise. Clark is who I am, while Superman is what I do."

Carolyn Chen:
“Britney Whitney Clark Kent Is Not a Disguise is a dance-dance concerto for flute and orchestra on tape, exploring the history and identity of flute and flutist. When we first talked about a piece, Berglind spoke of her ambivalent relationship with historical repertoire and its enduring connection to the identity of the flute as an instrument as well as the identity of the classically-trained flute virtuoso. The piece began with my conviction that Berglind's secret identity is a pop star, and that this identity is in fact connected to the music of the past. The work was to trace out these connections, motivically and spiritually.”
